The Gold River Food Network (GRFN) and Food Bank is an essential service for Gold River and the Tsa’Xana reserve of the Mowachaht/Muchalaht First Nations. Gold River is a community that is working to become food secure. As a region with no grocery store, the numerous senior volunteers of the GRFN help to alleviate this challenge.
Our services include offering twice a month access to the food bank for residents and their pets as well as monthly food hampers.
As many of our residents are seniors, low-income and/or do not drive or own personal transportation, drop-off services are provided to those with mobility challenges for the above offerings.
We partner with several organizations including the Strathcona Community Food Hub, Laichwiltach Family Life Society, the United Way, Loaves & Fishes, Greenways Land Trust, St. Vincent de Paul, Gold River Revelers Seniors Club, the Gold River Literacy Society and private donors.
GRFN provides nutritious snacks such as granola bars, fruit leather and other fruits and vegetables.

The Revellers is the Seniors Association in Gold River. It is a club geared to providing a place for seniors to socialize and attend various functions.
There are monthly potlucks, and activities such as cards, exercise, and pool. Guest speakers are scheduled to discuss valuable health and safety information. There is morning coffee offered three times per week and provides a gathering place for seniors.
Fundraising and donations pay the bills, and keep the Seniors Centre open. Memberships are $25.00 per year. Christmas time is one of the major events, with a raffle or two and attendance at the Craft Fair. In the summer, the Duck Race is another great fundraising event.
The Revellers is an active group, and would welcome new members. Volunteers plan and facilitate activities. New ideas for future events are always encouraged!
